A number of awards have come my way through my broadcast work: two Sony radio golds, one Sony silver, two RTS nominations, and one IRN nomination.
I'm contentedly retired now but I was on the staff of the BBC for 20 years, working across a wide range of broadcasting disciplines. After leaving the BBC staff in 2001 I worked as a freelance for the BBC and many other broadcasting organisations. My broadcast experience covers a wide range of disciplines. For TV: presenter, correspondent, reporter, producer and director. For radio: presenter, producer, commentator, reporter.

For BBC TV I created countless productions for national and regional TV, from 90-second shorts to 60-minute documentaries. These include Hillsborough - the Legacy for BBC Religion and The Perfect Player, the story of the legendary England footballer Sir Tom Finney presented by the ex-Liverpool footballer and TV pundit Alan Hansen.

I've broadcast for radio worldwide, from Los Angeles to Tokio and Amsterdam to Bucharest. I worked regularly for BBC 5 Live and Today FM Dublin as sports commentator and reporter, BBC Radio Four as presenter and documentary producer, and local BBC and commercial stations. From 2004 to 2012 I was chief commentator and presenter for Manx Radio at the annual TT motorcycle races in the Isle of Man. Another highlight was as boxing commentator for Radio 5 Live at the Manchester Commonwealth Games in 2002. In December 2019 I was part of the BBC team covering the UK General Election.
